Radio Controlled Models - Dornier DO 217 N2 Two Engine Night Fighter
On this page there are photographs of my 1st electric aircraft. Click on a photograph to view a larger picture.
This major project is going to also be a test project for all types of add-ons and modifications.
This is also a learning project. I have been a modeler for a while, but I have stopped building
for quite some time, due to space, time and money limitations. I lost all my RC stuff, including
most of the tools, so I had to start over from scratch. I have a fascination with World War Two,
German equipment. I also like to have less known, less common ones. I chose this aircraft because
I have never built an electric powered aircraft, so I thought this would be a good one to try
out.
I will start with the wing construction and will follow the plans for parts of the process. I
will then show the modifications that I am making. In some cases the modifications will need to be
modified if they are not possible to proceed in that way.
Here are some of the steps involved in building this aircraft.
First the plans for the model are laid out on a building board and covered with clear plastic.
What I did first was to make two copies at a print shop, and then cut out the section of the plans
that I plan to work on. In this way I preserve the original plans if I decide to build it again.
